Creating personable spaces you will love coming home to.

tl/dr: Hire Cheryl D'sa and prepare to be be amazed with interior designs that wow you (and stay within your budget). I couldn't have been happier working with her, with the end product, and with the process. I fully recommend Cheryl D'sa.

Cheryl did the complete interior design and oversaw major parts of the renovations on a full home furnishing project. Not only is she a pleasure to work with, she has impeccable taste, is of excellent moral character, and is a true professional. I would highly recommend her. Here are some highlights:

A. Translating a vision and ideas into executing a unique style: Cheryl is able to meld the salient points from reference work, conversations, and imagination into formulating exquisite boards. Her room-by-room designs are not only unique but also functional - and they flow/mesh with one another. The rooms are each special and make each other look even better - like eating a multi-course tasting menu with wine at a Michelin 3 star restaurant.

B. Architectural drawings and materials: in addition to interior furnishings, Cheryl designed a full bathroom remodel complete with drawings for the GC; she selected all the materials and ensured everything was done just right. Soup to nuts design, sourcing, execution, and ensuring it was done to spec - and speaking up when things needed to be redone, too.

C. Resourceful and respectful of the budget: Cheryl kept the project right on budget, even helping me stay focused when it would have been easy to meander. She knows where to source, when to spend, and when to save. Just the right knowledge you need to make your furnishing/remodel efficient.

D. All the intangibles - communication, organization, scheduling, attitude, and character. A full home furnishing/remodel takes time and you really get to know your designer. Cheryl possesses all the intangibles you want - and frankly need - when trusting someone with large sums of money and the future of where you'll live. Things happen when she says they will; she keeps you updated; she spends your budget like it's her money; there are no hidden fees or "gotchas"; and, everything is done in a professional way. She takes pride in her work and is a consummate professional.

Thank you, Cheryl for a job well done!”

— Pacific Heights Full Remodel Project

We hired Cheryl for the most important job in the renovation of our forever home. It was a complete reimagining from scratch of both a very large kitchen and a powder room of a historic San Francisco single family home. We interviewed a number of designers and Cheryl was the most thoughtful, well put together, creative one we met, even compared to those that had 20+ years of experience or famous clientele or magazine features.

Naturally, we had very high expectations. But it was a tricky job - you couldn't just pick a bright white kitchen since it would not match the vibe and well preserved original woodwork and trim of this 100 year old home. We wanted it modern and beautiful, but timeless enough to fit the vibe of the home. We wanted it bright but also with multiple colors. We wanted it functional but fun and warm. And more requests on top of that too.

Cheryl came up with multiple interesting ideas and options. Her high level thinking is really impressive. And then her ability to piece that together with the "micro details" -- literally down to the grout color and the exact height of the crown molding piece in quarter inch increments -- is what makes her really special in my book. The kitchen and powder rooms are both stunning and high end, and yet we came in overall slightly under budget no less.

Overall, I do have 1 regret with Cheryl - I regret that I did not just hire her for every single part of the house that we remodeled! I have already mentioned her to a close friend for their mid year remodel and plan to recommend her as highly as possible to anyone and everyone I know. She is an artist that is brilliantly creative on top of being a warm, kind, patient (very patient) person. We feel privileged to have her hand in our forever home. If you are looking for a designer for a job small or large (or very large like ours), honestly, I would not even bother interviewing others - hire Cheryl if she's available. Period.

You know the expression, “You win some, you lose some”? I think of it often and always know when I’ve won. I know I struck gold when I found Cheryl.

I’d had an unproductive - and confidence busting - experience with another interior decorator, and I wanted to find someone for finish selections whose method was collaborative and client-centered. Cheryl’s communicative and responsive style immediately inspired confidence and helped me move forward with a remodel I’d had great trouble envisioning. She hung in with me, never losing patience, through much deliberation about decisions large and small.

On top of her abundance of patience, she has impeccable design instincts, in-depth knowledge about vendors and brands, and years of experience to draw from. She advised me perfectly - in terms of design and with practical details (so many details!) - at every step. I love absolutely everything about my kitchen and give all credit to Cheryl for helping me see this project through.

— Fairmount Kitchen Remodel Project

Cheryl was my right hand consultant for my entire main bathroom remodel. It was my first remodel to the studs so was a big learning experience and Cheryl helped me navigate each step from the initial design concept, to engaging with my contractors, suggesting various brands for plumbing fixtures ,and completing progress reviews to identify any issues. She was very flexible with revising our design to incorporate some of my late stage ideas....I am very happy with the end product which was of high quality and more sophisticated like I wanted but I wasn't sure how to go about it on my own.....I never could have made it through the remodel w/o Cheryl's help as her initial scope increased to providing input on other areas of my condo to include all over paint colors, kitchen cabinets, light switch upgrades, bar backsplash shelving, etc.

— Fairmount Bathroom Remodel Project

I hired Cheryl to design my bedroom and office, and to select lighting fixtures for other spaces.

My space is small and sometimes irregular, and Cheryl was mindful when choosing items that were appropriate in scale. She provided detailed drawings of the space, and she considered things like furniture depth in order to maintain proper flow. She has a tremendous vision for color and mixing/matching patterns and textures that comes together beautifully. She also did an exceptional job sourcing items that worked together for a seamless look without the staged catalogue effect.

Cheryl is a good listener, and that translates into the designs she delivers. She is experienced at giving clients enough information to have choice, but not so much to be overwhelming. She is prompt, efficient, hard-working, and talented. Her prices are very fair. I am using Cheryl for additional work in my home as a result of my satisfaction with the initial projects.

Cheryl and Via D'sa Interior Design are amazing! Cheryl helped me with my kitchen and backyard remodel - she is warm, calm, professional, thoughtful, intelligent and creative and she has an incredible eye! The decisions she helped me with were invaluable - she is amazing with space and is able to see the big picture as well as dive into the details. I couldn't have done these projects without her. She helped me make decisions, think about things that weren't on my radar and helped me create a finished look that I'm thrilled with. I highly recommend working with Cheryl!

— Westwood Park Kitchen & Backyard Remodel Project

We had very limited experience in working with interior designers and were worried that our current home was not fancy enough to be interesting for a designer. But when we saw Cheryl's portfolio, we were impressed and felt at ease. She brings in expert focus with a nuanced eye. Working with Cheryl was super easy and fun - we were indecisive at times and she provided many options along with her opinions (without being pushy) and patiently educated us so that we made choices that we are pleased with.

— Noe Valley Furnishings Project

We selected Cheryl from 3 other interior designers. She was an excellent fit personality wise and also she had a range of ideas in terms of styles she could work from.

Our scope of work was re-decorating the entire entertaining level of our house. Though we had our ideas of what we wanted, she was able to support and challenge our thinking so collaboratively we came up with ideas we really liked. Additionally, Cheryl was great at bringing us ideas and moving us along in terms of timing and we made many decisions in a rather short period of time. Keep in mind, we had been looking for pieces over the past 2-3 years with little success.

Cheryl was able to provide a more holistic approach that coordinated styles and colors throughout the level and she exposed us to additional resources we had never heard of to broaden our view of more items. We were extremely satisfied with Cheryl's services and would use her again in a heart beat. We highly recommend meeting Cheryl for at least an introductory meeting.

— Inner Richmond Furnishings Project

Cheryl is literally the reason I am sitting in my dream kitchen right now writing this review. I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was working with her. She is a project manager, designer, (informal) architect, project cheerleader, late-night freak-out email answerer (haha), etc...

She did the impossible of translating our vision for our kitchen and front room renovation and improving upon it, while being exceedingly professional, kind, and patient. Even though our project stretched out over nearly a year, Cheryl continued to answer each and every question in a timely fashion. She encouraged us when we ran into the inevitable construction roadblocks and helped us problem-solve many little disasters.

Cheryl also saved us a lot of money! She helped us to find great quality materials and fixtures in our budget through the connections she has with local businesses. She also had a good idea of what things should cost, how the process should work, etc. which was so helpful for us remodel newbies. Thanks to her direction, we were able to hire a less expensive contractor and provide more project guidance to them vs an all-inclusive contractor/designer company, which could have easily cost 2-3x what we paid for the project.

Cheryl is also personable and fun to work with! It is clear she loves what she does. I would recommend her to anyone taking on a remodel project. Not a lot of things are worth the price in the Bay Area, but Cheryl's work is definitely worth much much more.

— Excelsior Kitchen Remodel Project

We worked with Cheryl to design our living room and dining room spaces. Cheryl was professional, prompt, and always put at the forefront an emphasis on designing a space that spoke to us and our aesthetic. She helped us to pinpoint what we were looking for, and provided lots of great ideas for inspiration. From providing multiple layout options, to finding rug and fabric samples, to shopping with us to test furniture, Cheryl was there throughout the entire process, and helped us to create spaces that made our house feel like a home. If you are looking to redesign your home, I highly recommend working with Cheryl!

— West Portal Furnishings Project

An apartment overhaul was almost a nightmare for me. I cannot visualize furnishing an empty house if my life depended on it. And it takes about 2 months for my husband to replace a bulb! :) So when the renovations were starting, we needed someone who could visualize the changes, tell us what to buy, from where and how best.

Cheryl has been a life saver! Even though we were on different side of the coasts, Cheryl was patient and persistent as her primary goal was to see me being happy with the choices. She took the time to video conference time and again so that we could talk through the ideas and choices.

She not only helped us with the bigger items such as cabinets , flooring, wall papers and colors but also the smaller elements like the coffee and dining table, chairs and smaller pieces of art for the décor. She created Pinterest pages and added her thoughts, ideas and additional info that helped making the decision of buying anything super easy. She also provided alternative ideas (and amazing at that) so that I had a full breadth of what I could do. She stuck to my budget and yet found elegance in everything that was added to the apartment.

She has great vision and understanding of what will work in combination, and more importantly what won't. I am extremely happy with how the apartment has come together and all the credit goes ONLY to her. Thank you for all the advise, all the detailing and sorry for calling you at uncomfortable times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We love you! And need to soon start discussing bathroom and bedrooms! :D

— Guttenberg Kitchen & Bar Remodel Project

Working with Cheryl was a wonderful experience! This was my first time living alone in a 1 bedroom apartment and I was excited to design and decorate the space according to my own aesthetic but I had no clue what that aesthetic was. I just had a vague idea of the colors I liked and the furniture I wanted to get.

Cheryl somehow helped me discover what my style was and what I liked, and very quickly put together a layout plan and some concept boards. Through her I was exposed to so much color, art, furniture pieces and ideas and I certainly could not have done this on my own. She was very responsive to all my requests, always took my thoughts into consideration and went all out in making sure my space would look amazing! She was also very detailed, documented everything (which I loved) and responded to so many of my emails quickly and kindly. She also came over to the apartment to make accurate measurements and helped me decide what to do with all my artwork. It was so much fun to hang out with her and go through this entire process.

I would highly recommend her not only because she is empathetic, kind and always put my ideas first but also because she has amazing taste and would recommend nothing but the best.

— Mission Condo Furnishings Project

You need Cheryl! We were faced with an unexpected move halfway through the pregnancy of our first child, downsizing from a single family home to an apartment that was half the size. We knew we needed help to shed nearly half our furniture and design our new space. We interviewed multiple interior designers and knew from our first phone call with Cheryl that we wanted to work with her. She is professional, knowledgeable, creative, and easy to talk to.

Cheryl was with us every step of the way throughout our move - from coming to our house to help determine what furniture we should take vs. sell, measuring our new space, meeting us for lunches downtown for design planning, joining us on shopping trips to look for new pieces...we could go on and on. She listened carefully to our needs and designed a space that reflected our personality and felt like home. She also ensured our furniture was baby-friendly...something we were not thinking about as clueless, first-time parents. We are so lucky to have found her!

— Noe Valley Furnishings Project

Cheryl did an amazing job designing my new condo! I was starting from scratch and nervous about choosing furniture myself, so I hired a designer to help me make the right choices. Cheryl was professional, organized, and detail-oriented. She started by learning about my tastes, and put together a couple of concept boards with varying styles and pieces from the high and low ends of my budget. We then visited furniture stores together to narrow down the pieces I liked in terms of style, comfort, and price. I was very impressed with her knowledge of materials and furniture quality, from choosing a rug that will last, to sourcing quality accent chairs and sofas from the right stores. Whenever I had questions or doubts, Cheryl provided her honest and professional opinion, which gave me confidence and made the decision that much easier. She was responsive, easy to talk to, and seemed to just “get me”.

Cheryl was a pleasure to work with and not only made the process stress-free, but actually fun! I have gained knowledge about furniture and décor that will help me in the future, and have saved time and money by choosing quality pieces that fit together beautifully. As my furniture arrives, the place is coming together like a perfect puzzle and is looking even better than in our concept boards - a testament to Cheryl’s design skills. This was no doubt a wise investment, I highly recommend Cheryl and look forward to working with her again!

— Soma Loft Furnishings Project

Cheryl helped us with a major remodel on our home in San Francisco and we couldn't have been happier. What could have been an overwhelming process was made much simpler and straightforward with Cheryl's assistance. She is incredibly professional, detailed oriented, and extremely intuitive when it comes to design. She helped with our kitchen, master bath and powder room design, choosing paint colors, wallpaper, lighting fixtures, tiles, etc. She helped us come up with a fantastic design plan that perfectly conveyed the overall look and feel we wanted while staying within our budget. We highly recommend Cheryl and would use her services again.

Working with Cheryl was a true highlight of our remodel project. Her involvement was both to assist with architectural design choices as well as help with selection of such decor as lighting fixtures, tile, window coverings and furniture. We found that she shares our love of warm and bold color which made for a particularly great match.  She struck the perfect balance between listening without overriding what we wanted, and yet providing definitive opinions and guidance when we just couldn’t decide on something. Cheryl never made us feel our attention to detail was anything other than helpful. In fact, she clearly enjoyed the same level of care towards particulars. Her positive energy and calm demeanor was a joy, and exactly what we needed during an exciting but at times overwhelming year-long project.  We cannot recommend Cheryl more highly as an interior designer. We absolutely LOVED working with her!

I love my living room with the new drapes and hardware Cheryl helped me with! It's a big room with several windows, and now it looks great. Cheryl was extremely responsive and helpful. I loved being able to look at samples and decide on fabrics and hardware in my own home. In addition to helping me with the specific project we were working on, Cheryl also offered some other helpful tips on how to warm up the room. The whole process was a very positive experience, and I would recommend using Via D'sa Interior Design for anyone who needs some help sprucing up a space.

Cheryl is an amazing, gorgeous soul that creates so much beauty in the world. Love her ability to create such harmony and beauty in spaces. Cheryl worked with my builder to design my home from the blueprints to the fixtures and to the furnishings. She has wonderful design sense and is great to work with. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants a beautiful home with sleek design.
